Triumph over the terrain: Conquering the arduous hill race climbing 354 meters.

Hill Race is a climb of 354 meters up and downhill. Hill Running is a time-honoured tradition at Highland Games, historically used by Clan Chiefs to identify their fastest messengers. The Hill Race at the Helensburgh & Lomond Highland Games is a gruelling challenge, demanding both physical and mental endurance. Athletes must navigate the rugged terrain of Tom na h-Airidh, tackling steep inclines and uneven ground. This race covers approximately 4.78 miles, with athletes ascending 1161 feet to reach the summit of Tom na h-Airidh, where there is no time to stop and admire the stunning views over Gare Loch, the Firth of Clyde, Bute and Arran, and the Arrochar Alps as these athletes then have to descend the hill by the same route.

Spectators are invited to join us and cheer on these determined athletes as they push their limits in this iconic event. Come and be part of the excitement and witness the incredible feats of strength and stamina that define the spirit of the Highland Games.
